About Us
- Shri.Yajaman Bellur A.Thammaiah, Member, People’s Representative Assembly of the erstwhile state of Mysore, a person who enjoyed close contacts with the Maharaja and a leading contractor of yester years had a cherished desire of starting a hostel for the students of Uppara community and poor and backward students of other communities as well. This noble desire became a reality in the year 1942. Shri.Thammaiah was an ardent devotee of Sri.Sri. Swami Ramadas of Anandashrama of Kerala. Eventually this hostel came to be known as “Shri.Swami Ramadas Melusakkare Uppara Vidyarthi Nilaya”.
- Shri.Thammaiah had the concept of “Vidyadhana” uppermost in his mind and therefore nominated his son-in-law Shri.Y.S.Lingaiah as President of the Hostel in 1965 for smooth functioning of the Hostel. Shri.Thammaiah reached his heavenly abode in 1973.
- Shri. Y.S.Lingaiah was a leading advocate of Mysore. He was the follower of 12th century social reformer Basavanna’s philosophy “Work is Workship”. He was elected as the President of K.R.Nagar Muncipal Council several times and served the people there with humility, nobility and to the satisfaction of one and all. In recognition of his yeoman services to the citizens of K.R.Nagar Shri.Lingaiah was named as the President of “Temperance Board of Karnataka” by former Chief Minister of Karnataka D.Devaraj Urs.
- In 1974, as per the wishes of his father-in-law Shri.Thammaiah, Shri.Lingaiah founded the TTL Trust, became its promoter and founder president. Due to his failing health Shri.Y.S.Lingaiah nominated his eldest son Dr.K.L.Ramadas as the temporary president of TTL Trust in 1989. Soon after the death of Shri.Y.S.Lingaiah, Dr.K.L.Ramadas became the full fledged president of the Trust. Dr.K.L.Ramadas after obtaining his MBBS Degree from Mysore University did his higher education in medical field in USA and established himself as a leading psychiatrist in America. In 1993 Dr.K.L.Ramadas formed Thammaiah, Thayamma, Lingaiah Educational Trust (TTL Educational Trust) in 1993 and got it registered. As the old hostel building constructed in 1942 was not sufficient to accommodate the inflow of students Dr.K.L.Ramadas constructed a new building for the hostel, in addition to the old one, in 1993.
- In order to translate the wishes of his father and grandfather into reality and to meet the requirements Dr.K.L.Ramadas constructed a building with new architectural designs in 1995 for starting a First Grade College. This building was well furnished on American lines. Permission was obtained from University of Mysore in 1996 for starting BBM Course.
- Dr.K.L.Ramadas went a step further in 1999 for a Post Graduate Centre in Master of Business Administration (MBA) to cater to the needs of the students for carving out a bright future. Accordingly papers were submitted to University of Mysore, Government of Karnataka and All India Council for Technical Education for approval. Permission to start MBA course was accorded very soon. This achievement is a feather in the cap of Dr.K.L.Ramadas. Incidentally TTL Trust is the first to start a private Post Graduate Centre in MBA,under the University of Mysore.
- Another note worthy point is that the commencement of a PUC College in Commerce was sanctioned by Government of Karnataka in the same year 1999 after considering the necessities and requirements of students in general, fulfilling the desires of students passing SSLC Examination, from area where the College is located.
- Considering the heavy rush of students for admission to BBM the Management applied for starting a B.Com course in 2003. The University of Mysore approved the same. Again in 2004 one more section of BBM was permitted to be started by the College by the University. Further, a ‘Study Centre” of Karnataka State Open University was sanctioned in June 2000.
- Thus the Trust is now imparting education in PUC Commerce, BBM (2 sections), B.Com and MBA. In order to impart quality education in these streams a well established Computer Centre with more than 60 computers, with internet facilities has been setup. Also two libraries, one for Post-Graduate and another for Under-Graduate centers, with more than 4000 books in each are assisting the students in their pursuit of higher studies.
- The results of all the sections are very good with an outstanding percentage of passes. These passes include gold medalists, rank holders, and students with first class marks in all streams of learning. The Institution encourages students to not only achieve academic excellence but also excellence in extra curricular activities like sports, literary, cultural activities and National Service Scheme.
